In Windows 8, you can easily share your internet connection with other devices or you can say, create a wi-fi hotspot. You just need 2-3 cmd (command prompts)commands which are provided in this tutorial step by step.
This is quite easy and you do not need any additional software. So, lets begin...
Now pay attention to the following guide and do as described to avoid any errors. Its quite handy and hardly takes 5 minutes to set up the hotspot.
1) You need a laptop/pc.
3) An enabled Wi-Fi adapter. (shown in later pictures in network and sharing center but is actually a hardware component embedded into your laptop).
Now, we need to check the feasibility of your laptop means whether it can support the sharing or not. To do so, you have to open the cmd (command prompt) in the administrator mode. If you don't know how to, let me guide you. Just follow my steps...
1) Search for cmd and right click on it. On the bottom of page, several options will appear and you must select "run as administrator".2) Now in the CMD, we first need to check whether laptop supports wi-fi sharing or not. For this, write following command in cmd
" netsh wlan show drivers "
If there is a " YES " , then you can proceed to the following steps and create a wi-fi hotspot otherwise, your laptop does not support this functionality. Lets hope for the best and it shows a YES to you.
Now you can proceed to the following :
1) To set up the network, type following command in cmd(opened in admin mode)-
This will create the hotspot network on your system.
2) Now proceed to the next step to start the hostednetwork using the command
"netsh wlan start hostednetwork"
This starts the wi-fi hotspot on your laptop. Now just one more step :
3) Open the network and sharing center on your computer. There are two ways to open this and are shown below--
OR
Click on "change adapter settings". This will open up all the network connections on your computer.
4) Here you will see a new connection with an asterisk " * ". This is the new hostednetwork. Do not play with this and open up properties of your working internet connection. In my case, "Broadband connection 2".
Open up its properties and in the sharing tab, select the network with the " * " in it as shown in image.
This is it ! Now you can connect your smartphone or other devices to this hotspot Wi-Fi.
